Lyrics

They came from the City, to a Canyon way out West
Living in freedom, doing what they did best
Smoking a fat one, sweet music would flow
The world was a-changing, far away from the snow

They had each other, everything they wanted
Peace, love and freedom
They had each other, everything they wanted
In Laurel Canyon

The flower that blossomed on a farm in 69
Began to wilt when Charlie and his gang arrived
He looked like a madman, 'cause that's what he was
Though he slept under them, he wanted to kill stars

They had each other, everything they wanted
Peace, love and freedom
They had each other, everything they wanted
In Laurel Canyon

The Summer of Love, became the Summer of Blood
A long way away from the music and the mud
When Meredith was murdered at Altamont they knew
The end it was a-coming, and it was coming real soon

They had each other, everything they wanted
Peace, love and freedom
They had each other, everything they wanted
In Laurel Canyon

The fire came down, burning all in it's way
Showing no mercy, it could never be the same
They watched as the smoke rose, into the red sky
As soon as it was born their culture had died

They had each other, everything they wanted
Peace, love and freedom
I'll miss you my brother, the dream will live forever
In Laurel Canyon
